The program will summarize legislative funding, local news, agency updates, and recent activities of community interest. Specific topics will include the Community Involvement Program of Fairchild, first PFAS testing by RiverKeeper and Spokane City, report on free home filters and bottled water in the new partnership between Depts of Health and Ecology, the new PFAS filter disposal program at the Waste to Energy Plant, County Assessor’s progress towards PFAS recognition, biosolids processing at the City’s Waste Treatment Facility, examples of specific home filter installations, Airport eastward runoff and PFAS well results, and highlights of Dr. Pritchard’s PFAS testing of lakes, streams, and the Spokane River.
Guest speakers are Coalition President John Hancock; Sarita Preuss, the Alternative Drinking Water Program Lead in the Office of Drinking Water of the WA Dept. of Health; and Craig Volosing, local rancher and President of Friends of Palisades.
Dr. Chad Pritchard’s fate and transport study, funded by WA Dept. of Ecology, has been expanded for additional home testing. The summary of that 2-year research is not yet complete for presentation.
West Plains Water Coalition is a volunteer citizen group bringing attention to PFAS-polluted wells and groundwater across the West Plains region of Spokane, Washington. The Coalition is a registered 501(c)(3) charity.
