We are excited to share that a new research study will help West Plains families confirm that home water filters remove PFAS and other fluorinated chemicals from household water.

This study—led by researchers at the University of Colorado Boulder, in partnership with West Plains Water Coalition and the Washington State Department of Health—will test both existing home filters and newly installed systems. The goal is to provide clear, trustworthy information about filters that impacted households can use to protect their drinking water.

Participants will receive their own test results, helping academics and policy-makers build knowledge that will support families across our community and nationwide.

Riley is the nation’s lead researcher in home PFAS filters.  After his talk here in 2024 (watch on YouTube), it was clear that his experience could aid our neighborhood.  Here’s his essay about that West Plains visit.
This research project begins easily for him, and for his research funder, because of the neighborhood community acquaintance you’ve helped us build.
From the start, we’ve imagined that what we learn here might help people in other PFAS communities.  Thanks for your part!
