If you rely on a private well in the West Plains interim action area, free water filters are available to you this Saturday, and you do not need a confirmed PFAS test to receive them.
Event Details
When: Saturday, May 9, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Where: Waste to Energy Plant, 2900 S. Geiger Blvd., Spokane
Spokane International Airport, the City of Spokane, and Spokane County are hosting a free open house to distribute water filter pitchers, countertop dispensers, and food-grade containers for use at the city’s Garden Springs water fill station.
What You Can Do at the Event
- Pick up a free water filter or container for immediate use
- Sign up to have your well tested for PFAS
- Learn how to access the city’s clean water fill station on Garden Springs Road
- Talk to Spokane Regional Health District navigators about getting a permanent point-of-entry treatment (POET) system installed at your property
The county has received $7.5 million from the state of Washington to fund permanent POET filter installation on private wells. This is a no-cost solution for qualifying residents.
Not sure if your address qualifies? Call 3-1-1 or 509-755-CITY to confirm your location.
Homes already connected to City of Spokane water are not included in this event, as that water is regularly tested and safe.
